Symbolic Cars & Coffee February 2015

Bugatti EB110

Symbolic Motors, my local Bugatti, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Bentley and vintage/supercar dealership, had another Cars & Coffee this past Saturday and like previous ones, it did not disappoint. Highlights of the show included a $3M Lamborghini Miura SVJ Jota Coupe, a Bugatti EB110, Porsche 918 Spyder, a Pagani Huayra, and so many others that I don’t even know where to start…or as I like to call it, a typical Saturday in Southern California 😉

Porsche 918 Spyder

I got there early in hopes to grab a few pictures before it got crowded, but the lot was already full of cars and people when I got there before the official starting time of 9AM, and it continued to be packed the entire time I was there..the car scene is alive and well in SoCal after the famous Irvine Cars & Coffee was shut down. Many cars came all the way from LA, such as the Bugatti Pur Blanc and L’Orque Blanc, as well as the 918 Spyder and Huayra.

Lamborghini Miura SVJ

There were a lot of San Diego locals too though, including many customers and friends of Symbolic – as well as a few cars they had for sale, including many of the Lamborghinis, a black Bugatti Veyron for a cool 1.9M, and the aforementioned three million dollar baby – the Miura SVJ Jota Coupe. I’ve never seen a Miura in person before, and I’m even more impressed now that I have. It was in a particularly difficult lighting to photograph well, but I managed to get a few that turned out decent, I think…

Bagged Audi R8

Being an Audi guy, I couldn’t help but notice a few nicely modded R8s at the event, including this bagged R8 done by local tuner HG Motorsports that was sporting bronze HRE Flowform Wheels and a satin wrap – nicely done, gentlemen! GMG also brought a few R8s that are always great to look at.

IMG_9106No matter what cars you were into, there was something for everyone – such as the hot rod parked next to the Murcielago, above. This is one of my favorite shots, showing that car guys (and gals) come in all different types, but we all have a passion in common…

The show stopper was definitely the Pagani Huayra – a $1.4M hypercar in exposed blue & black carbon fiber with gold wheels. The finish was just incredible in the sun, and the car is unlike anything I’ve seen. The crowds did not disagree, I literally heard someone shrieking in excitement and was almost ran over by a mob of people trying to get the best pics or video of the car rolling in.

There were quite a few rare birds like a Ford GT, a Lancia, several imported Skyline GTRs, and some classic Porsches that really drew my attention.

A big thank you goes out to Spencer Berke aka @thatphotographer who coordinates and promotes these events – it’s amazing to have events like this and a lot of work goes into them – the Symbolic employees who directed the event were all working on their day off as volunteers to make the event happen, which is incredible. They also provided free coffee & donuts, living up to the promise of “Cars and Coffee” while hosting us all at their service location in Carmel Valley.

With so many favorites from the show, I’ll post a few more of my favorite pictures here, then embed a slideshow of all 70+ shots I took and uploaded to my Flickr at the bottom – so please be sure to check it out, and share this post if you liked it!

Also, I’m still learning Lightroom so if you have any pointers based on how I processed these shots (overdone? work on saturation? etc.) let me know – this was my first time shooting in Raw and I’m enjoying taking baby steps at being a real photographer…

  1. Thanks for all the amazing pics Nick. I took exactly the same pictures. I love we have the same taste is machines! Thanks for giving my E28 M5 some exposure to….even parked off the property. I spent hours detailing my daily driver for the event until 3 am. Making your blog made it all worth it!

  2. My pleasure Randy – no accident I snapped your car when it was parked off the property, once I saw it I loved it and knew I had to grab a few shots of it.
