Car Shows & Meets

Big SoCal Euro 2019

Each year Big SoCal Euro seems gets bigger and better, and this year was no exception.

My favorite show of the year continues its vibe and tradition of being a show for everyone with a football stadiums worth of parking spots, the majority of which are free.

There was a great turnout of vendor/show cars and then a ton of variety for everyone to check out.

The show also featured an “Audifest” area exclusively for Audi owners, and all of the local SoCal Audi Clubs made an appearance.

On-site was also a mobile dyno, and the RS3 crowd was not shy about coming out to see who could put down the most power.

I walked around for a bit and enjoyed catching up with old friends, checking out a ton of cars, and getting a little sunburn along the way.

There were a lot of great finds for the Audi lover like me, including this B5 RS4 with Canadian plates that is “real” according to the for sale sign.

The word real was in quotes, and I wasnt sure if the quotes were meant to imply it actually real or not.

Either way I want it but am also afraid to text and how ask how much. The car wasn’t in perfect condition, but nothing a few days of detailing and paint work couldn’t fix.

Further down the way was a pair of Mugello Blue RS cars, making me wish having a four door.

I’m not sure which car Id rather take home at the end of the day, these are both modern classics in my book. The RS4 takes an edge for having three pedals, but the twin turbo V8 in the RS6 is hard to top.

Speaking of classics this pair of UR Quattros got prime time parking next to the SoCal Euro booth and were definitely some of my favorite cars there.

These were both survivor cars that drove to the show and home, and while neither were concours quality perfect, they’ve both been enjoyed and driven extensively as they should.

Another favorite Audi of mine is a locally owned RS5 sportback in Audi Exclusive Arrow Blue paint.

The new RS5 looks better as a four door, and the color helps the styling really pop.

Another Audi I was really excited to see was Tyler of Pacific Germans B9 Audi allroad with an engine swap to the V6 from the new S4.

A ton of work went into making this car the ultimate allroad, and it shows. The interior was also swapped over, and with upgraded brakes, tires, suspension and the rest of the mods that went into this, it’s a complete build.

In non-Audi world, there were a lot of great cars too. This Carrera RS was my all time favorite, and the silver one next to it was a close second.

While many aftermarket widebodies are starting to look tired or played out, the OEM Porsche GT3 Clubsport body work does not age whatsoever.

Another favorite of mine was this E46 M3 with a Corvette motor swap, which I can only imagine is hilariously fun to drive.

Another head turner was this triple axle Mercedes G65 AMG, definitely the only of its kind at the event. I’m not sure I understand how or why they did this, but it’s pretty neat to see in person.

Part of my goal of the event was to pick a new color to have my HREs refinished, and I have officially settled in Brushed Dark Clear as pictured above, as it looks absolutely awesome in person and I think will provide nice contrast with my white paint.

The rest of the show was a blast too, and I’ve included way more pictures below.

This year I parked my car near the back as I didn’t have anything new or exciting to show off, but I enjoyed a fun cruise there and home which isn’t something I get to enjoy as much as I’d like.

Thanks to Lon and the crew for putting this on every year, it’s always something to look forward to and enjoy.
